Flamengo's victory over Botafogo on Wednesday (July 14.07) was warmly celebrated by the club and coach Rogério Lourenço. Despite this, the coach still believes his team can improve significantly in the Brazilian Championship. The Flamengo manager is already seeing the younger players maturing, but he also believes the group still needs to work out some details.
The coach believes that this was just the first step in starting a journey towards a seventh Brazilian championship.
"We have a lot of young players, and it's good to see them maturing, with the team responding tactically. We have to stay calm and not assume everything is set in stone. Regardless of the victory, we had some problems and we have to fix them," said the coach.
Paulo Sérgio, who scored the winning goal, curiously against the same rival against whom he scored his first goal as a professional, celebrated the result, but also said that the team cannot get carried away by euphoria.
"They said I was brilliant against Botafogo. But this is the result of the work of all my teammates. This goal came at a good time and I'm very happy about it. Now it's time to keep working," he added.
