Rogério speaks for the first time as Flamengo coach

Shortly after taking on his biggest challenge as a coach, Rogério Lourenço expressed his high expectations for leading Flamengo's professional team. Having come up through the club's youth system as a player and after coaching the U-17 and U-20 teams, he held his first training session and gave his first press conference on Saturday afternoon at Ninho do Urubu.
At 39 years old, Rogério knows he's being promoted provisionally, but he sees Wednesday's game as an opportunity to start his professional career on the right foot. The coach spoke about this golden opportunity, the importance of achieving a positive result in the Libertadores Cup, and also about the team's tactics.

Opportunity
First of all, it's a great joy and privilege to take over the Flamengo team, even if only on an interim basis. Flamengo has a history of coaches who started here and managed to reach the first team, and I hope to follow that path as well, like Carlinhos and Andrade did, for example.
Copa Libertadores
We have to think about what's best for Flamengo. We earned a great opportunity, through merit, to reach 10 points and qualify for the Libertadores, and our focus now is exclusively on that.
Speed
We are prepared. Anyone in football has to be ready for any situation. Just as things can take a long time to happen, they can also happen quickly. Whether as a coach or a player. I had the privilege of playing for great teams as a player, I've been working with this for some time now, with the under-20 national team, where I gained a lot of experience, and I'm calm about this new challenge.
Escalation
Of course I have an idea, some things in mind, but we have two training sessions to define the team and I'm not going to reveal anything. Álvaro is out, Love has this minor medical issue, but he should be back and we'll see on Monday and Tuesday how the lineup will be. The way we play has to be as objective as possible. The important thing is to find the best way for the team to play so we can do our job at home and leave the Maracanã with a victory.
tactic
I think you have to put whoever is best suited to play on the field. Tactical numbering is the least important thing. What matters is that they are performing their role well and assimilating what has been determined. You have to attack with the largest number of players possible and defend as well. Within that framework, you form the team. You can have an offensive team with three midfielders or three defensive midfielders, it depends on which players are selected. I've never focused too much on that, but rather on the harmonious positioning of the team.
