Rogério Lourenço: "Things will happen"
Coach is optimistic about the ability of the squad he has at his disposal

This Tuesday (03.08), Flamengo presents two more reinforcements for the Brazilian Championship: midfielder Renato Abreu and striker Leandro Amaral. Along with them, center forward Val Baiano, who is still recovering his best form, and young Cristian Borja, give coach Rogério Lourenço hope to further strengthen the squad he has at his disposal.
Still without news about possible new signings, the coach believes that every great team is always interested in great players, but he makes a point of valuing the group under his command.
"Every great team wants to have the best players on the market. Even if you have a wonderful squad, you still want something more. I agree with the management model being implemented at Flamengo. There is no construction without destruction. To build a winning Flamengo, we need to go through some things. But I say again: things will happen," said Rogério, who predicts the team will evolve over time.
"We had a good presence in the box with the introduction of Borja, who came from Caxias and came straight into a Flamengo and Vasco match, responding well. With Val getting into form and Renato arriving to help Petkovic, Flamengo is likely to improve. Of course, the fans want a result yesterday, I understand that, but we have to be realistic. I believe we're right there, in the mix, and we'll fight for good things in the championship," he said.
The coach also demonstrated understanding regarding the fans' demands, but warned that Flamengo's philosophy is to do everything calmly, always seeking the best not only for the present but also for the club's future.
"I can't say what the team will be like until the end of the year, but Zico, as director of football, has already made several statements that we need to support this group. He won't hire players just any old way, and I completely agree with him. I've also said that, overnight, I know it's hard for the fans to understand the fact of losing three idols (Bruno, Love, and Adriano), but the work is being done to seek the best for Flamengo," he added.
