After physical training and technical drills, Flamengo's players finally played their first recreational match on Wednesday afternoon at Ninho do Urubu. And the result was resounding. The team wearing vests, featuring David, Vagner Love, and Ronaldo Angelim, thrashed the non-vest team, led by Vinícius Pacheco, Juan, and coach Rogério Lourenço, who took risks with the ball at his feet, 7-1.
As usual, the players joked around a lot after the kickabout. David, who had even played goalkeeper on penalty kicks before the start of the so-called "rachão," was often mocking his opponents and was cheered on by his teammates, including young right-back Galhardo.
"They didn't even touch the ball, it wasn't possible for them," he joked.
Juan and Vinícius Pacheco's team, however, will have an important reinforcement starting in August: Renato Abreu, one of the creators of the rivalry between the teams in recreational games.
"This rivalry is old. In fact, Renato Abreu and Arroz created these teams. From that time, it was just Léo Moura and I who were left here," explained Ronaldo Angelim.
Rogério Lourenço, a vigorous defender who was Brazilian champion with Flamengo in 1992, lamented that he was not in his old form.
"It was complicated, you know? I hadn't played for a long time...", he concluded.
