While Flamengo's management team has been led by former players since the middle of last year, when Andrade took over the team, another player who made history as an athlete is now the club's leading figure. Zico took over as executive director this Tuesday and was widely praised, including by coach Rogério Lourenço.

As a young defender, Rogério played alongside Zico and hopes that the Galinho will have the same success as a manager as he did wearing the Rubro-Negro's number 10 jersey. The coach couldn't find the words to describe the importance of Zico's arrival as head coach.

"Today is a historic day. The greatest idol in history has returned to the club, and anything that comes from him has to be assimilated. I even conveyed this to the players, that it's a privilege to work with Zico. We hope he repeats his success as a player and helps everyone here. It's something that can't be precisely measured in the gains Flamengo will make. The club wins in every aspect," he stated.

Rogério also believes that Zico's experience, both as a player and as a coach, can be a great help even to the team that takes to the field.

"Zico has experience as a former player and coach. And that gives him credibility. Any coach who says he doesn't talk to anyone is on the wrong path. The coach has to talk. Zico talked to me and set an example that at CFZ he always gave his coaches freedom. I think everything is going well," he added.
