Rogério says he is proud of the Flamengo team
Coach believes team regained confidence in Thursday's match against "La U"

It's possible to feel proud of a team after an elimination. Flamengo coach Rogério Lourenço is adamant. The red-and-black coach believes the team from Gávea played a great match against Universidad de Chile this Thursday in Santiago, and therefore should return from the Chilean capital with their heads held high. According to him, Flamengo has regained its confidence and should be applauded by fans for its fighting spirit.
Rogério believes, however, that the team could have had better luck if they had played better football at Maracanã, in the first leg of the series, when Rubro-Negro was defeated 3-2 by "La U".
"If we analyze the 180 minutes, the first half at Maracanã was very bad. Today's approach was no different from that at Maracanã, but we had an unlucky night there, and that, unfortunately, happens in football," he said.
Flamengo's manager believes the team has regained its self-esteem and, despite not qualifying, played a high-quality match in Santiago. The coach believes the players themselves should be proud of this great performance.
"The important thing is the recovery of the players, who came here, faced all the adversities, and overcame them. I'm proud of the players, and everyone should be feeling the same way. Unfortunately, we didn't qualify, but they played a spectacular game in every sense," he added.
The red-and-black delegation arrives in Rio de Janeiro early Friday evening at Tom Jobim International Airport. On Sunday, the team has a Brazilian Championship match against Grêmio Prudente at 18:30 pm at Maracanã.
