Flamengo reached six points this Saturday (29.05) in the Brazilian Championship, drawing with Grêmio, at Maracanã, 1-1. Everyone in the red-black squad left sad for not having gotten the three points, but thinking that the result was unfair. With chances to kill the game, Rubro-negro hopes that, at least, the will shown on the field will be taken as a positive point.
Rogério Lourenço fielded a three-man defense, giving the fullbacks and Petkovic free reign in the middle, and hoped for better luck. However, he had to settle for a draw, despite Flamengo missing scoring chances.
"We could have sealed the victory in the first half. We had a chance to score a second goal. I even heard that Love wasn't offside when his goal was disallowed, but life goes on. We started the game better, but Grêmio started to have more possession. However, they didn't threaten in the first half. In the second, they managed to score early. But we fought to win until the end. I don't think the result was fair," said the Flamengo coach, highlighting what was the team's high point.
"The good thing is knowing that the team was better than in the last game. The attitude was better," he said.
When asked if the team's number of passing errors was Flamengo's low point in the game, Rogério admitted the problem, but blamed the victory on excessive desire.
"We really misplaced a lot of passes today. That's a fact. I think the team's desire for victory ended up hurting us. This excess makes the players confused. Haste isn't always good," he said, absolving Petkovic, the man behind the red-and-black formation, of any blame.
"Pet always has this profile of making precise passes. He's not just anyone. He tends to miss more passes than others, since he keeps the ball at his feet more. But when he gets it right, it's decisive, it's to kill the game."
