Rogério sees a competitive team for the Brazilian Championship

Coach believes team showed improvement against Botafogo and is betting on a fight for a spot in the G4

Nothing fills a team with confidence like a derby victory. After a strong result against Botafogo, Flamengo is increasingly motivated to secure a spot among the leaders of the Brazilian Championship. Coach Rogério Lourenço believes his team has what it takes to compete well in the second half of the season.

According to Rogério, the most technically skilled teams don't always achieve the best results. The coach sees Flamengo as a competitive team in constant evolution.

"In football, the technically best don't always win. You have to have a competitive team. That's what's important. I have to find the best formation with the players I have, not players who have to adapt to the system. Flamengo has a quality team, and we just need a little more balance in the different areas. It may not be the team fans dream of, but it's growing, and it showed that against Botafogo," he said.

The coach also celebrated the fact that the teams that have been fighting for a spot in the G4 stumbled in the last round and expressed confidence that the team will fight to occupy one of these positions.

"We're chasing the top spots and we don't want these teams to open up an advantage. The seven- or eight-point gap between Corinthians and Ceará has already been reduced to six. Fluminense's has dropped to four, so a win for us in Goiânia and a slip-up from these teams could bring us even closer. We can't let them open up, because we'll end up losing the opportunity to recover," he added.
