The bureaucratic situations involving the transfer of midfielder Correa and the possible contract renewal of defender David have not yet been concluded. Therefore, coach Rogério Lourenço already has a formation in mind for Flamengo in case the two are unable to play against Botafogo, next Wednesday (14.07), at Maracanã.

Both David and Correa have been training as starters, but in all of Rubro-Negro's training sessions and training matches this off-season, Welinton and Rômulo were tested in their positions. Therefore, the tendency is that they will start playing if negotiations do not progress during this Tuesday (13.07).

"Regardless of whether he plays regularly or not, a player has to be prepared for an opportunity like this. I trained a lot during the offseason and I believe these days were important for the entire group. If necessary, I'm at Coach Rogério's disposal. The group is united and we want to start the second half of the year on the right foot," explained midfielder Rômulo.

With Rômulo replacing Correa, Flamengo's tactical scheme could be slightly modified. After all, the defensive midfielder also serves as a false third center-back, which helps free up the full-backs, Leonardo Moura and Juan, to advance more frequently.

"I can do that, like I did against Corinthians in the Libertadores, for example. But the important thing is to try to help in the best way possible. I believe this squad can go far this season. The reinforcements have arrived, the board's mentality is as professional as possible, and that can only lead to good results, both on and off the field," added the number 39.

Rômulo has already played seven matches for Flamengo this year: winning three, drawing one, and losing three. Welinton, meanwhile, has played in four matches, winning three and losing one.
