Last season's Brazilian title hero, Ronaldo Angelim, held a press conference Monday morning at the football department of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. The player's contract was extended for another year and a half, and he's eager to return to the field. The defender discussed the negotiations, his plans for 2010, and made himself available to coach Andrade for whatever he needs.

Physical fitness has been a major concern at the beginning of the year. After all, preseason will be shorter than usual. But Angelim doesn't mind. The number 4 says he can play when needed: "I'm a player who gets fit very quickly. I hope to be available to Andrade as soon as possible. I'll give my all in training, and if he (Andrade) needs me, I'll play today."

Considered the great hero of the national title, Angelim still remembers that unforgettable day of December 6th. "I scored the winning goal, and it was great. I don't think that changes anything. From now on, the club has other goals. And staying here, I know the pressure will continue, regardless of whether I scored the goal," revealed the player, who assures that he's not yet considering retiring. "I can't talk about retiring right now. I have a big family, and when I feel like I can't keep up with any other striker, I'll call it quits," he concluded.

Negotiation - Vice President of Football Marcos Braz explained the delay in renewing the player's contract. He said the delay between the two parties was normal, as the player had commitments, having scored the goal that gave the Rubro Negro their sixth championship.

"What happened was a natural renewal process that took a little longer or a little shorter. There were several factors. It was natural that in a sixth championship with one of his he would have some commitments. So we calmly considered and worked things out. Therefore, this visit is to make absolutely certain that there were no problems with the athlete," he stated.
