With the defeat to Corinthians this Sunday (08.08), at Pacaembu, Flamengo reached the fourth consecutive game without a victory in the Brazilian Championship (lost to Internacional, at Beira Rio, and drew with Avaí and Vasco, at Maracanã). But defender Ronaldo Angelim does not believe that this negative sequence is a reason for despair for the group and for the red-black fans.
The player recognizes that Flamengo could have achieved slightly better results in recent games, but he is betting on hard work to overcome this moment and return to the fight for a place among the top teams in the 2010 Brasileirão.
"There's no need to despair. We know that right now we need to work and that's what we're going to do. One day the ball will go in and we'll get the victory," he said.
Like goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, Angelim believes that the Gávea team ended up falling far behind in Sunday's match, and therefore says that the attacking duo of Borja and Val Baiano should not be criticized by the fans.
"We fell way behind and ended up getting into trouble. In the first half, practically only Corinthians played. Everyone is to blame for the fact that we're not scoring many goals and we have to improve this together," he added.
Flamengo's next duel in the Brasileirão is on Saturday (14.08), against Ceará, at Maracanã.
