A fan bus was stoned and players were targeted with objects thrown onto the Santa Laura field.

Coins, toilet paper rolls, golf balls... The number of objects thrown onto the field during the match between Flamengo and Universidad de Chile at Santa Laura Stadium was enormous. Furthermore, a bus carrying Flamengo fans was even stoned on the way to the match venue. This poor treatment disappointed the Gávea team in Santiago.
Coach Rogério Lourenço made a point of saying that this had no direct influence on the result, but he regretted the way some things happened in the Chilean capital.
"We regret that South American football is lagging behind the rest of the world. Playing in a stadium like this is complicated. We offer the Maracanã, São Paulo offers the Morumbi, and here we play in a stadium like this. It's not my problem or my excuse, but unfortunately, the organization was deplorable," he said.
Defender Ronaldo Angelim, who was just one of the players hit by objects during half-time and at the end of the game, also complained about what happened.
"I was hit by a golf ball. I was going down to the locker room, someone threw it at me and it hurt me. That's regrettable. It can't happen again in football," he concluded.
