Red-blacks make their presence felt in Santiago

In addition to the presence of organized groups, Flamengo received support from other Flamengo fans

Everyone knows that Flamengo has the largest fan base in Brazil. However, game after game in the Copa Santander Libertadores, this maxim is confirmed. On Wednesday (March 17.03), in the 2-1 loss to Universidad de Chile, in addition to the presence of members of its main fan groups, Flamengo received support from other fans. A group of Marines, currently in Chile, attended the game and joined Flamengo fans in the stands. In the special stages, a pair also attracted attention, wearing the sacred mantle among the Chileans.

Rio de Janeiro natives Rosana Rodrigues and Marcela Cardoso strategically chose the date to visit Santiago: when Flamengo was playing. Wearing Flamengo jerseys and accompanied by two Chilean friends, they weren't intimidated by the crowd.

"It's the first time we've seen a Flamengo game outside of Rio. We usually go to Maracanã, but we've never been able to see the team up close anywhere else. I hope we get lucky," said Marcela.

And the fans' night was only incomplete due to the result. Even so, they managed to silence the Chilean special teams after the red-and-black equalizer. Unfortunately, they didn't leave celebrating in the end. Nothing could stop them from teasing, especially their Chilean friends who accompanied them.

"I keep imagining this game at Maracanã. Let's show them how to fill a stadium and how to cheer. It's always better at home. We have our fans and we feel more at ease," Rosana concluded.

Superstition

The Marines present at the stadium also revealed that many other teammates, who support other teams, also wanted to go to the stadium. However, they were 'blocked' by superstitious Flamengo fans.
