On Sunday (August 23), more than 40,000 Flamengo fans left happy with the 2-1 victory over São Paulo at the Maracanã, in the 20th round of the Brazilian Championship. Defender Samir, who played a beautiful game, was also happy. Leaving the stadium, the player celebrated the result but stated that the focus has shifted to the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
"We won, but it's in the past. In the Brasileirão, these three points will be very important later on, but now we have a crucial match, a game that will decide our future in the Copa do Brasil. The group knows this. I was happy with my performance (against São Paulo), being able to help, and you can be sure that I will always give my best, as I always have," said Samir.
The match against Vasco, which will decide who gets the spot in the quarterfinals of the tournament, will be this Wednesday (August 26.08th) at 22 PM at the Maracanã. Flamengo needs a victory to take the decision to penalties, in case of a one-goal win, or to secure the spot in regulation time, in case of a two-goal win.
