At the end of training this Monday (15) at Ninho do Urubu, which precedes the delegation's trip to Buenos Aires, Matheus Savio appeared at the Victorino Chermont Press Room to give a press conference. At just 20 years of age, the Boy from Ninho started the Mais Querido's debut match in this year's Brazilian Championship and scored the red-black goal in the 1-1 draw against Atlético-MG.
During the conversation with reporters, the young striker commented on the thrill of scoring in front of a packed Maracanã stadium. Savio also highlighted the importance of playing for Flamengo's under-20 team in 2016, adding experience and leadership by captaining the team in the competitions. The match against San Lorenzo in the Conmebol Libertadores Bridgestone was also analyzed by the athlete, who assured that the team will enter the field looking for victory this Wednesday (17).

Debut of Vinicius Jr.
When I was promoted, it was Léo Moura's farewell game, with less pressure. Today, Vinicius is at the height of his phenomism and has demonstrated his worth in training. The entire Maracanã stadium is chanting his name. I believe he'll adapt very quickly due to his talent and mentality.

Return to base last year
When I was promoted in 2015, I scored four goals. The board knows exactly when to promote a player. They thought I needed to gain a little more experience. After the São Paulo Cup, I played in the youth team again and became the team captain. I made significant progress. Perhaps if I had been in the senior team, I wouldn't have had so many opportunities. I gained more responsibility and leadership. It was a crucial moment in my career.

Playing at a packed Maracanã
It's complicated, because we dream of a moment like this, and when it arrives, it feels like we're not prepared. It's incredibly emotional. When I made my debut, a movie played in my head, ever since I left home, about how hard I worked to get here. And I have to keep dreaming, try to maintain the high level. Keep working to earn my place.

Goal against Atlético-MG
During the play, I tried to target Guerrero. When I saw him in the box, I tried to head the ball to his head, as he's an excellent finisher. I think Vitor was unsure whether he would tap it in or not, but thank God the ball went in.

Decisive match against San Lorenzo
We'll go in there to win the game. It's up to us. If we win, we'll advance in first place. We have to go in there to win the game, but we know a draw could favor us. We don't have to think about Atlético-PR, but rather do our part.

Chances in the team
I've been working hard to get my opportunity. I believe I'm ready. I got a chance in the Brazilian debut and ended up scoring the goal. That's a decision for coach Zé Ricardo to make. Of course, we miss Diego, who is an idol of mine. I try to model myself on him a lot, as he's a player with a lot of history in football. I believe the coach will make the best choice for the team.
