When they take the field this Wednesday (28.04), for the match between Flamengo and Corinthians, Adriano, Maldonado, Fierro and Kleberson will have one more concern on their minds: to show their worth to Dunga and Marcelo Bielsa, coaches of Brazil and Chile. Fighting for a spot on their respective national teams, the red-blacks hope to play a good match and, with that, come out with the victory.
Adriano and Maldonado's situation is more relaxed. Confirmed in Flamengo's starting lineup, they're counting on the group's support to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa.
"I think Bielsa will watch the game. He always follows important matches involving Chilean players. This will be good for me. I've been out of action for a long time, and now I'm going to show my skills. The same will happen with Adriano and other players seeking the Brazilian national team. Dunga will be there, and everyone will want to give their best on the field," said Maldonado.
And if he has already received public support from the red-black group to be able to return to the Chilean national team, Maldonado did not hold back: he joined forces for Adriano to wear the yellow jersey in South Africa.
"We hope Adriano can return to his 2009 form. He's been training hard and will be the player we've seen before. We'll help him on the field so he can repay the group with his goals. We need to help him get to the World Cup too," concluded Flamengo's Chilean midfielder.
