Two days before hosting Universidad de Chile in a decisive Copa Santander Libertadores match at the Maracanã, Flamengo held its final training session without one of its key players. Suffering from significant back pain, Adriano is undergoing treatment and is doubtful for the game. In his place, Andrade fielded Bruno Mezenga, who did not disappoint, scoring two goals in the first team's 5-0 victory over the reserves.
According to Flamengo's doctor, Marcio Tannure, the final diagnosis regarding Adriano will only be available after training this Tuesday (April 06.04th) in Vargem Grande.
"There's no way to make any kind of prediction. He had treatment today and we'll wait to see how he reacts. He'll be reassessed tomorrow and only then will we know if he's fit to play," he explained.
Despite lamenting the potential absence of the Emperor, the Flamengo squad has confidence in his replacements. Álvaro believes that, regardless of who forms the attacking duo with Vagner Love, Flamengo will be well-served in that position.
"He's an injured teammate, an important player who decides games, but whoever comes in as a substitute will be up to the task. If needed, the group trusts him, as has happened before when he couldn't play," said the defender, who left training after taking a knock to his left ankle, but is not a concern for the match.
