His national team's top scorer. A goal that earned him a World Cup title. The affection of a country and the two biggest fan bases in the land of football. Paolo Guerrero is a player destined to make history.

Signed in 2015, it took him less than 24 hours to make his mark with the Sacred Mantle. The day after his presentation, he scored a goal and provided an assist in Flamengo's first victory against Internacional at Beira-Rio Stadium in 13 years.

He's always resisted criticism in the same way: by finding the back of the net. Even when he doesn't score, he's known for his unwavering determination. He never gives up on a chance. Guerrero is the Flamengo fans on the field.

In 2016, he again made his mark in the club's history books by finishing the year as the team's top scorer with 18 goals—matching his career-best haul of 2013. He was the first foreigner to achieve this feat since Petkovic, who did so in 2000.

This year, he's enjoying what many consider the best period of his life. In just five months, he's already scored 13 goals in nine games. Flamengo hasn't lost in any of them—eight wins and one draw. He's the player in the current squad with the most goals for the Sacred Mantle—34 in 80 games, a statistic that places him as the sixth-highest foreign scorer in Flamengo's history.

At the beginning of the year, he showed his true colors. Always well positioned, he possessed unparalleled ball control and a consistently dangerous shot. With playmaker Diego injured, he demonstrated intelligence and commitment, doubling up in two or three roles on the field. His first title with Flamengo also comes with an important personal milestone. Guerrero is the Flamengo's top scorer this year and leads the Campeonato Carioca standings with ten goals in the competition.

It's no wonder that he is now one of the biggest idols of the Biggest Fanbase in the World, who always support him with joy and hope that the 2017 Campeonato Carioca will be just the first of many other glories he will experience with Flamengo.
