No room to dwell on the past.
The defeat against Guarani in the first round is now a closed chapter for the red-and-black team.

Jean opened the scoring at the end of the first half, Marcelo Lomba saved a penalty midway through the second half, and victory seemed practically guaranteed. But in the final five minutes, the opponent turned the game around and transformed the almost certain three points into a bitter defeat, one that is still lamented today. That was the outcome of the last match between Flamengo and Guarani, in the first round of this year's Brasileirão.
The 2-1 defeat at the Brinco de Ouro da Princesa stadium was one of the most significant results for Flamengo in the competition. However, it's already considered water under the bridge. Without any desire for revenge and with no room to dwell on the past, the Flamengo players only want to win their second match against Guarani this season.
"Guarani is a team that's not to be underestimated. They come to make things difficult, to disrupt, but we can't think negatively. We have to go after them, put that game aside and go for the win," analyzed defender Welinton, who wasn't yet a starter in that match.
Midfielder Maldonado, in turn, emphasizes that the decisive atmosphere of this match is already a great incentive, regardless of what happened in the first-round game.
"We have three games left to decide the championship (besides Guarani, Cruzeiro, and Santos). The group is calm and knows what it needs to do. We're not thinking about the calculator. We have to win the game and stay focused on what's going to happen. We need to win, we've prepared for this. I believe the game will be important for the team," he concluded.
Flamengo and Guarani face off this Saturday (November 20.11th) at 19:30 PM at Engenhão. Flamengo is currently in 14th place with 40 points, while Guarani is in 18th with 37 points. Historically, Flamengo holds a significant advantage: 14 wins, 13 draws, and 10 losses in 37 matches.
