Much has been said about the clause that goalkeeper Felipe, recently signed by Flamengo, would have in his contract. However, both the club's Legal Department and coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo made it clear this Saturday (December 18.12th) that the measure was adopted by Flamengo after some incidents that damaged the club's image in 2010.

On his official blog, Luxemburgo published a text where, in addition to explaining this fact, he praises the signing of Felipe. The Flamengo coach went further and also took the opportunity to thank Juan for his work during the five seasons he wore the Flamengo jersey. Check out the full text from the Flamengo coach below.

Flamengo's Legal Department, through its director Tathiana Costa, clarifies that sports legislation allows clubs to include clauses that protect their image, brand, and sponsors from potential acts that undermine this. According to her, this measure had already been applied in Flamengo's most recent contracts with forwards Deivid and Diogo, and it is a non-negotiable standard.

I would like to state for the record that it was a pleasure working with the athlete Juan. Due to a contractual disagreement, he is leaving Flamengo. I am certain that his next club will have the same excellent performance that he achieved throughout his time at Flamengo.
 
The club has finalized the signing of goalkeeper Felipe, and I know he's had some disciplinary issues, but every human being and professional deserves another chance. Our work is based on hierarchy and discipline, and furthermore, Flamengo's president, Patrícia Amorim, after the Bruno case, established an image protection clause in all player contracts.

I consider him an excellent goalkeeper technically and I'm sure he'll be very successful with us.
