The midfielder says he eased up at the end of the year, took the opportunity to surf, and maintained a high level of physical fitness.

Anyone who watches Flamengo's games has noticed that Willians is one of the players with the most outstanding physical conditioning. In the preseason in Londrina, it's no different. With his trademark stamina, the midfielder is always leading the way in running, gym workouts, and pool exercises.

The midfielder spoke to reporters after training this morning at the SM Sports training center and revealed that the reason his preparation is going so well is simple: his wife. According to him, his wife made the holidays a little more relaxed – just enjoying time with family in Santos, his hometown.

"I held back a bit on vacation. My wife doesn't let me do much (laughs). But seriously, I took good care of myself, enjoyed spending time with my family, and I think I'm performing well. But not just me, the whole group. The team is strong, of course some reinforcements should arrive, but we are uniting the group more and more," he said.

One of the player's hobbies in the Baixada Santista region is surfing. The midfielder explains that the activity, besides being fun, also helps him stay in shape.

"I caught some waves. I totally wrecked them (laughs). It's good for staying in shape too, isn't it?", he joked.

\ Happy in Gávea – With a long-term contract with Flamengo, the defensive midfielder emphasizes that he really likes the club and is very happy to be starting another year wearing this red and black jersey.

"I really like Flamengo. I like being here. I like the club, my teammates, and the fans. I'm happy to be here for another year and hopefully it can be a very successful season," he concluded.

Willians arrived at Flamengo in 2009, has played 105 games for the club and scored three goals, in addition to five assists.
