Midfielder Fernando is enjoying a good run of form at Gávea. Even though he's not considered a starter, the number 17 has been one of coach Andrade's options getting the most opportunities this season. He's already played ten games for Flamengo and scored his third goal this Wednesday (March 03.03). Interestingly, all of them were scored at the Maracanã stadium.

Fernando believes that, in addition to scoring goals, he's been playing his part defensively, which is the main positive factor in his performances. According to him, it's this role that he needs to focus on.

"Without a doubt, it's important to have a sequence of games. Thank God, I'm having that. I took advantage of another opportunity Andrade gave me. I've been scoring goals and also helping the team defensively, which is my primary role," he said.

The player arrived at the club after a season with Goiás, where he wasn't usually very successful in attack. That's why Fernando is surprised by his strong performance for Flamengo.

"I'm happy to play here, at Maracanã. I scored my third goal. It's even funny, because I didn't usually score many goals at the clubs I played for. But this is happening here and it's really good," he explained.

The good performance makes Fernando dream even bigger. The midfielder hopes to be among the 11 that will start the game against Caracas, for the Copa Santander Libertadores, next Wednesday (10.03), away from home, since Willians is suspended.

"I'll do my best to get another chance and play the match against Caracas in the Libertadores," he concluded.
