Flamengo coach Silas considered the draw against Botafogo a result that proves the quality of the team and the players' desire to move away from the bottom of the Brazilian Championship table. After the match, in a press conference, the coach praised the dedication of his players and only regretted that the team was unable to leave the field with a victory.
"The watchword was resistance. Botafogo plays strong, on the counter-attack. The team had a turbulent weekend and didn't let it get them down on the field. We managed to draw, and if we had had numerical superiority, we might even have won," he stated.
Silas also praised the work done by the players during the week and the attitude of the fans, who continued to support the team from Gávea during the game.
"I liked the training and we came here looking ahead. We played even a little better, but it's a derby. I was happy because the fans never booed me and never stopped supporting the team. They wanted a vibrant, fighting team, and they saw that," said the coach, who still doesn't know if he will remain in charge of Flamengo in the coming rounds.
"The mystery lies in the results, but I will meet with the president to make the decision. Now it's about trying to talk as little as possible about this issue and leaving tomorrow for tomorrow," he concluded.
Flamengo will return at 15pm on Monday (04.10), at Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande.
