Silas: "This is a game we won't forget"
Rubro-Negro coach laments defeat, but says the team must remember that it cannot repeat its performance.

If fans and players weren't satisfied with Flamengo's performance and 3-1 loss to Palmeiras this Saturday (September 25.09), the club's coach couldn't have felt differently. Silas left the Engenhão stadium upset with what he saw on the field. But, contrary to the popular saying that the game would be "one to forget," he urged the group not to forget the subpar performance in this weekend's game.
"Flamengo's first half was very poor; the team lacked focus. We paid a heavy price for that. We conceded the first two goals due to inattention. We misplaced a lot of passes in the first half. There were early goals, and having to chase them down is very difficult. Everyone says there are games we should forget, but I think this is a game we shouldn't forget. We have to remember that we didn't play well. And learn from that for the next games," he summarized.
The coach demonstrated understanding for the players' physical exhaustion, but believes that the team's problem was not fatigue but rather inattention.
"I know I have to understand the players' side and that we're facing a marathon. But we can't allow a first half like this against Palmeiras. Because if it was fatigue, the team wouldn't play like they did in the second half. It was just a lack of attention," said the coach, who took the opportunity to explain Juan's departure early in the game.
"I took Juan off because I wanted a player who was 100% fit. The blame for the goals wasn't just Juan's, no. It was the entire sector's. It was a general lack of attention, not just Juan's. It was the sector's fault. It can't be just his fault. But I'm going to hold him accountable internally and show the video of the plays," he concluded.
