"When it works, the coach is a phenomenon. When it doesn't..." That's how coach Silas, in his press conference after the game this Wednesday (08.09), defined Flamengo's moment when he chose to replace Correa with Vinícius Pacheco, with less than 20 minutes of play, at Morumbi. The red-black coach lamented that the substitution didn't have the desired effect and also the negative result in São Paulo.
The red-black commander, despite having taken the number 7 out of the game, praised Correa and explained that the change was purely tactical and not technical.
"Correa was playing well. He faced Guarani, Cruzeiro, and Santos, but we were behind and couldn't get out of the defense. Since he was playing more often, of the three, he's a little slower, so I brought on Pacheco to give him speed. I left on Toró, who's faster, and Willians, who I pushed to get going," he said.
Silas also explained that he has confidence in the squad at his disposal. Despite not having won yet in his time at Flamengo (with one draw and two losses in three matches), he is confident the club will turn things around.
"Everyone who's at Flamengo is capable of playing. I'm without Diogo and Leo Moura, but I'm hoping for improvement. We're playing at home, and I hope today's defeat brings about a revolution within each player, within the group, so we can turn this situation around," he added.
