Silas rejects despair over defeat

Coach believes the team is improving and cannot give up on a bad result

Flamengo coach Silas knows his team can no longer afford to waste points in the Brazilian Championship. Even highlighting the difficulties the team faces in the competition, especially due to a lack of chemistry and physical exhaustion, the Flamengo manager hopes for a recovery after the loss to Palmeiras, already in the game against Goiás, on Tuesday (28.09).

"We have to go into the next round, against Goiás, alert. We have to turn this situation around. There are 13 rounds left, and we can't afford to slip up. I try to put my best players on the field so the team can build rapport, but it's complicated. I can't have a well-coordinated team and, at the same time, rotate players and rest them," he said.

The coach knows that this isn't the easiest of times, but he also remembers that his team has been improving and that there's no reason to worry about a poor performance.

"It's a delicate moment, but we can't despair over one game. We've been improving, making progress, and just because we lost a home game doesn't mean we have to think everything is wrong. Two good results put today's sadness behind us," observed Silas, who only called for attention to the high number of goals conceded in recent games.

"We've conceded eight goals in three games. That can't happen. We couldn't play at home with a defensive team, but we have to be more careful. We're playing with determination for the entire 90 minutes and trying to instill this spirit more and more. It's difficult, with a game every three days, but all the teams are in this situation and we have to work," he concluded.
