The first victory is unforgettable. Silas's feelings after Wednesday's match (September 15.09th), when Flamengo beat Grêmio Prudente 2-1, were clear in his smiles and jumps of joy when Toró scored a beautiful goal to turn the score around in favor of his team. Happy with his first victory in charge of Flamengo, the coach confessed to being relieved by the result.
"I took a weight off my shoulders. I'm sure the group did too. It did the players good. Everything is being done the right way and victory has arrived. The players have been working very hard and Toró ended up being rewarded. He is extremely dedicated and luck accompanies hard work," he said.
The coach praised the dedication of all the players and highlighted the unity of the Flamengo group even during a difficult time in the championship.
"There were attempts to play. We didn't hide. What I need to emphasize is that when a team like Flamengo, a big team, goes through an adverse situation, there can be a split in the group, but that doesn't happen here. Everyone hugged at the end of the game because this group is together. It's united. I'm sure a new stage has begun for us," said the coach, aware that the victory gives the team more morale to seek a win in the weekend's derby against Fluminense.
"The morale boost of going into the derby with a win is important, but it doesn't guarantee anything. We're facing a team that's doing well, with an exceptional coach, and we need to have a lot of respect for them," he concluded.
