Flamengo is close to closing a deal to sign midfielder Ramon from CSKA (Russia). In an interview with the club's official website on Tuesday night, Vice President of Football Marcos Braz said that only bureaucratic details remain. "He's already had his medicals. It's about 80%, 90% done. Only an accident can take him away. But accidents happen," Braz stated.
The potential signing of Ramon could conclude, at least for now, the signing cycle. With the additions of Fernando, Vagner Love, Michael, and Rodrigo Alvim (announced this Tuesday), the midfielder would be the fifth new addition to the squad. "The idea is to stop here and analyze the market while we await a report from the coaching staff on the squad for this preseason. There are players already at the club who I want to succeed and add strength to the squad, like Vinicius Pacheco and Bruno Mezenga."
According to Braz, the negotiation process is proving successful. "[Left-back Rodrigo Alvim] is another player who wanted to play for Flamengo. He managed to terminate a one-and-a-half-year contract. He didn't play, but he was with the German champions. He came to Flamengo for free, and we still keep 20% of the rights," comments the vice-president of football, citing midfielder Fernando as another example of a successful deal. "The club didn't put in a cent, and we kept 50% of the rights. And it's still too early to say whether it will work out or not, but the player has arrived and is already helping. He's already played, he's already scored a goal..."
