A little over three months ago, Flamengo lost 3-0 to Santos at Vila Belmiro, to chants of "olé" from the Santos fans. At the time, the red-and-black team was second-to-last in the Brazilian Championship, with 12 points.

Now the situation is quite different. After that match against Santos on August 5th, in coach Joel Santana's debut, Flamengo played 23 games and, with the strong support of their fans, managed to win 14, making a beautiful leap to the top of the Championship.

Last night (11/11), Flamengo once again proved that it is the most beloved team in Brazil. In front of more than 87 thousand people, it returned the defeat in the first round, and beat Santos 1-0, with a header from center forward Souza.

With the result, Flamengo jumped to third place in the standings with 58 points with two games remaining. In the next round, on Sunday (November 25th), the Gávea club hosts Atlético-PR at Maracanã. The game can be played without fans in attendance, as Flamengo was punished with a loss of home advantage.

If they win the game against the Paraná club, Flamengo will be very close to securing a spot in the most important competition in the Americas, and completing one of the most beautiful comebacks in the history of the Brazilian Championship.
