The dream has come true! Chilean Arturo Vidal was introduced on Monday afternoon (18), at Ninho do Urubu, as a new Flamengo player. The 35-year-old athlete signed a contract with the Mais Querido until December 2023. In a press conference, he spoke about the emotion of having his name shouted at Maracanã, his dream of winning the Libertadores, among other topics. Check out some excerpts:

Vidal's first words
"First of all, I want to thank everyone for their kind words. It gives me goosebumps! I always wanted to play for Flamengo and would talk to Renato Augusto and Rafinha. I'm very happy in Rio; it was a dream. I'm just a little bit happier when I step onto the field wearing a Flamengo jersey. I believe it will be the happiest moment of my career."

European vs. Brazilian football
"European football is more physical, but when I get on the field, I'll be able to answer that question better. Technically, the players here are better than in Europe."

How the love for Mengão came about
"The first person to talk to me about Flamengo was Renato Augusto, at Bayer Leverkusen, in 2008. He awakened in me this desire to wear that jersey. Then, I played for Bayern Munich for three years, and everything he said was crazy."

Win titles
"Winning the Libertadores has always been a dream. I want to achieve many things, but the Libertadores is something every kid dreams of winning. I hope to win it with Flamengo."

"In fact, I think it was one of the most beautiful things in football when I walked onto the field and the fans started chanting my name, even though I'd never played here. I couldn't believe what was happening."
