He received his first chance in the starting lineup against Friburguense last weekend and showed his worth. As a reward, he ended up staying on the team and was praised by the fans.

"I didn't expect to be a starter in the Libertadores. If I'm called up again against Vasco, I hope to be ready again. I always want to help Flamengo, and that's what I'm here for. In a qualified group like ours, you have to be ready for any game. Against Friburguense, Vasco, or in the Libertadores, we have to show the same desire. Dedication always has to be present," said the player, explaining why it took him so long to debut at Gávea.
"First, I improved my physical condition. Then, I had to wait for my chance in the squad. I arrived to play alongside the Brazilian champions. But I should have had this opportunity sooner. I had a very bad sinus infection and missed the trip to Caracas. It happened now and I'm very happy. I think everything happens in its own time," analyzed Michael.
Regarding the change in his situation, from reserve to starting team, the midfielder did not show any insecurity, but rather a lot of happiness and confidence.
"I've gone from strength to strength, and I hope to continue like this. When you least expect it, something good happens. That's the life of a player. But I've never lost heart. I managed to put in two good performances, and I hope to continue helping," he concluded.
