One of Flamengo's key signings for the 2008 season, striker Diego Tardelli didn't have a long run of games under former coach Joel Santana. Now, under Caio Júnior, the number 11 has gained ground and a starting spot.

- "I'm happy for the opportunity. It's great to train all week with the first team. I'll dedicate myself to the maximum to maintain a good sequence of games in the Brazilian Championship."

Tardelli said he has already adapted to the new role he has been playing on the field.

- "I've played like that before, coming from behind and dropping a little more to the wings. At PSV and Betis I learned a little more about marking. I'm used to playing that role."

For the player, home victories in this Brazilian Championship are essential to winning the title.

- "The idea is to always win at home. In the Brazilian league, whoever wins at home and doesn't lose away has a good campaign. We have to take advantage of this sequence of games at Maracanã to add 12 points."
