After thirty days of vacation, Flamengo's professional squad returned to work on Wednesday afternoon (12) at Ninho do Urubu. Between exams and physical tests, the players returned to their routine with a very clear focus: a great 2017 for the Mais Querido.
The athletes were divided into two groups. The first remained at the new CEP FLA and worked at four stations with movement quality and strength tests. The second group worked on the grass of field 3 and performed the "yo-yo" or "back and forth" test, which measures cardiorespiratory fitness and aims to direct the athletes to individualized training as soon as possible.
"We seek to profile our athletes to provide personalized training. Flamengo is working hard to achieve a Rubro-Negro DNA methodology. It's based on our style of play. To achieve this, athletes need to be in good physical condition to perform on the field," explained Daniel Gonçalves, Flamengo's fitness coach.
Daniel also announced that the players will soon be working with the ball. The physical demands will continue, but in conjunction with the activities led by Zé Ricardo, who closely observed the group's work.
Starting this Thursday, the group will work in two shifts. The preseason continues uninterrupted, and the athletes will be based at the hotel in the new professional training center.
