Thiago Salles happy with goal on debut

Even though he regretted the draw with Sport, the defender says he had a special Sunday.

Amid the tense atmosphere during Flamengo's squad's return to training this Monday at Gávea, defender Thiago Salles was the exception. Even without knowing whether he'll be kept in the squad for the match against Figueirense, his professional debut against Sport on Saturday was enough to be the only smile among the unfriendly faces.

"Of course, as I said after the game against Sport, I would have traded my goal for a win, but I was still very happy to have scored in my first game. Even with the draw, on Sunday the phone didn't stop ringing at home. Lots of people called to congratulate me," he said.

The defender did not start Monday's tactical training session with the starting lineup. Ronaldo Angelim, who plays left back, the spot occupied by Thiago against Sport, left the field with muscle pain.

"I still don't know if I'll stay on the team, because I played on the left and Angelim is the starter. But I'm ready to play on either side of the defense and ready to help whenever needed."
