After a morning tactical session, coach Cuca led the first preseason training session at Granja Comary in Teresópolis. The starting players won 2-0, with goals from Obina and Ibson. The new additions included Everton as Obina's attacking partner, and Wilians's inclusion in midfield for much of the training session (Airton started the training session as a starter). For coach Cuca, the starting players' victory is important, but not what caught his attention.
"It was a good practice, not only because of the score, but also because we didn't take any risks on defense. This shows that you don't need to have a high-scoring team to be effective on defense. I still have a question, but this is the basis for Sunday's training match," said the red-and-black coach.
Cuca also commented on the arrival of Zé Roberto and was pleased with the desire shown by the player on his first day at Flamengo.
"It's good to know he arrived willing to fight for a spot on the team and knowing he won't have any perks. We already know each other, and that helps when it comes to settling in. But everyone will have the same opportunities, and the best player will always play."
