Competing in the Copa Libertadores is already a daunting task. Competing as the reigning Brazilian champion is even more so. After all, Brazilian football is considered the best on the continent. And it's with this weight of being the favorite that Flamengo takes the field on Wednesday to begin its quest for a second consecutive title in the international competition.

One of the most experienced players in the group, Emperor Adriano believes the pressure is indeed greater on Flamengo in this competition. Despite this, the number 10 is confident in a great campaign for the Red-Blacks. The top scorer is already dreaming of starting the 2010 Copa Libertadores on the right foot—or the left, which is the player's strongest foot.

"The responsibility increases with the title, but we're on the right track. Unfortunately, we didn't beat Botafogo, but that happens. We always need to work. Everyone is aware of the importance of doing well in the Libertadores. I know the responsibility of this debut and I hope to start well," he said.

Young defender Fabrício agrees. According to him, every other team will take the field wanting to defeat the Brazilian champion. However, for the defender, that won't be a problem; after all, Flamengo is ready for any challenge.

"Any team that faces Flamengo will be motivated, especially since we are the Brazilian champions. But the team is prepared. We are a great team that has an obligation to represent the country well in the competition," he noted.
