Flamengo's interim coach, Toninho Barroso, this Saturday (28.08), just over 12 years after his first match as coach of Rubro-Negro, gave a press conference after the tactical work he commanded in Gávea. Happy with the opportunity to return to train Rubro-Negro, he showed optimism for Sunday's match (29.08), against Guarani, in Campinas.

In this first contact with the group, Toninho kept the work light, after all, the players were coming off a grueling match against Galo. He also took the time to chat extensively with the red-and-black group.

"We had a tough game on Thursday, and today it was important to work a little. The physiologists and coaches were on top of me to make sure I didn't go over the limit (laughs). But it was good, the conversation was good, we got things in order, and I think the result will be good," he said.

The coach will have significant absences for the match, but he still believes in a good result. Without Leandro Amaral in attack, there are two starting lineup options, but Toninho hasn't yet decided which one he will use.

"I lost Leandro Amaral and Maldonado, but the group is fine. We did some tactical work with one option without Leandro, but we have others and we'll work through the discussions. Toró's entry was this attempt, giving Renato and Pet freedom, and the other is Val Baiano's entry in Leandro's place," said the coach, who confirmed that all the players were in good physical condition to play in a conversation with fitness coach Toninho Oliveira.

"I wanted to know how they were doing and plan for the marathon of many games in a short space of time. It's important to keep an eye on this, but all three assured me that they are fine and will play the full 90 minutes if necessary," he added.
