If coach Rogério Lourenço believes that whoever is better prepared physically will achieve positive results in this restart of the Brazilian Championship, as far as Flamengo's fitness coach, Toninho Oliveira, is concerned, he can rest assured. In an exclusive interview with Flamengo's Official Website, Toninho revealed that the team is in excellent condition, considering the preparation time, and expressed optimism regarding the players' performance.
"The team is doing very well. We had a reasonable amount of time to prepare and, within this period, I believe the group is in very good condition for this debut and also for the rest of the competition," he said.
Toninho also revealed that, obviously, not all players are in ideal condition, but he explained that this will happen over time, as everyone acquires game rhythm.
"Of course, they're not all in ideal condition yet, but as time goes by, as the games progress and the players gain game rhythm, they will improve even more," noted the coach, who with his preparation method, which almost always uses the ball, has been gaining the players' trust.
"They like it because, for them, there's nothing better than working with the ball. So it's a way for them to work hard, prepare themselves, and they end up not feeling the strain as much," he added.
