Fans turn out at Estádio do Café to watch Flamengo.
With their five-month-old baby Luiz, Luciano and Thais exemplify their Flamengo passion far from Rio.

It's no surprise to anyone that Flamengo fans fill stadiums anywhere in Brazil and the world. At the Estádio do Café, in Londrina, this Sunday (January 09.01th), it's no different. A good example is Luciano and Thais' family. The 33-year-old physical education teacher brought his wife and son Luiz Fernando, just five months old, to the match against Londrina.
Watching Flamengo at the Estádio do Café, however, is nothing new for Luciano. Almost 18 years ago, he was in the stands for the last match between the teams, which ended in a draw. Luciano has also left his city to see his beloved club. More than once.
"I've been a Flamengo fan since I was little, and it's great to see my team here in the city. I watched the last game here at Estádio do Café in 1993, when Djalminha scored a goal and the score was 1-1. I also watched some games away from here, like the Carioca final in 1996 at Maracanã, and the last game in Presidente Prudente, which is very close to here," he said.
Luciano, therefore, wants to pass on his love for Flamengo to his son. Luiz Fernando, just five months old, is already at his first Flamengo game, fully dressed in the team's colors. And his father hopes it will be the first of many victories.
"Hopefully he'll have good luck, right? His mother is also a Flamengo fan, so we're passing on that love to him, and may this be the first of many victories for him and our team this year," he added.
At Friday's training session (January 07.01th), approximately two thousand fans attended the stadium. This Sunday, the expected attendance is five thousand.
