Fans called for another Brasileirão duel

Ronaldo Angelim and Petkovic ask for the red-blacks to be present against Avaí, this Wednesday

Coming off two consecutive wins in the 2010 Brasileirão, Flamengo is only thinking about a third consecutive victory in the competition. To do so, they need to overcome the strong Avaí team, which also returned to the championship with a 100% record, having beaten Palmeiras and São Paulo. But one help could make all the difference in this Wednesday's (July 21.07) match at Maracanã: the support of the fans.

Defender Ronaldo Angelim, one of the red-and-black idols of this current squad, believes that the fans will show up and asks them to support the team during the 90 minutes of the game, as the chants of encouragement coming from the stands only help the players on the field.

"I hope the fans turn up. They always support us, in every game, and I believe that with this good winning streak, the fans will come to the stadium and support us. Especially because it's going to be a tough match," said the sixth-time champion.

Another player who is always acclaimed by the fans, Petkovic also hopes to have the Nation in large numbers at Maracanã.

"It's going to be another tough game, as Avaí also showed they have a great team. But we started well and we have to keep it up. More than ever, we're counting on the help of our fans to put on a good performance," said the Serbian.
