Toró ready to replace Maldonado
The Chilean midfielder will need surgery due to a problem with the ligament in his left knee and will only return in at least four months.
By Flamengo Archive - inFlamengo and Brazil national team doctor José Luis Runco confirmed this Thursday afternoon that midfielder Maldonado will need surgery for a ligament injury in his left knee. The player sustained the injury during Chile's friendly against Slovakia last Tuesday in Europe. Maldonado will be sidelined for four to six months.
Confirmed by coach Andrade as the Chilean's replacement, number 21 Toró stated that he is ready to help the red-black team in this final stretch of the Brazilian Championship.
"Everyone is very sad about Maldonado's injury. He helped the team a lot in this run and was crucial in getting the midfield and defense right. We're sad, but on the other hand, I'll have another opportunity to prove I can be important. I've always dreamed of wearing the Flamengo jersey at such a crucial moment, and I'm very motivated to take the field on Sunday."
