Toró didn't start in the team that qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores in the series against Corinthians. However, to reach the semifinals, the midfielder is among the 11 that will have the difficult task of beating Universidad de Chile by two goals in Santiago this Thursday (20.05). And despite knowing that the task will not be easy, the player is betting on qualifying.
The player, known for his determination on the field, emphasizes his desire. Toró assures that the group is focused on the spot and promises to do everything possible to qualify from Chile.
"The most important thing is wanting to achieve the goal and fight for it. And here we all really want to qualify. Regardless of who takes the field, the group is very strong and is willing to do everything possible to return from Chile with qualification," he said.
The midfielder believes there is time to change the recent record against Universidad de Chile and guarantees that the red-black team will not feel the pressure from the opposing fans in the cramped Santa Laura stadium.
"We know it's going to be tough. The other games there weren't favorable, and their team has been playing well for a long time and has quality, but we can't think about that. The stadium is small, the fans will support us, but we have to get the result and we'll go there with the goal of securing a spot," said Toró, who also showed he's not worried about the taboos Flamengo will have to break to qualify.
"Statistics don't matter. We know we need to improve on the last few games, but we also know that a win could be worth more than our entire record to date. We just need to win, and we'll do our best to achieve that," he added.
