Players believe a full week of training could yield good results in Sunday's derby against Vasco.

Flamengo's team is gradually getting back on track for the Brazilian Championship. The current national champion, the team from Gávea, currently occupies seventh place in the table and, on Sunday (August 01.08st), will play a classic match against Vasco at the Maracanã, which could put them back in the top four of the competition.
"We have a week to build confidence, and that's very good for fine-tuning the team. We need to see where we're going wrong and correct it in time for the derby," said midfielder Willians.
The player also believes that the match is crucial for Flamengo to remain in contention for the top spots in the standings at the start of the championship. According to him, a victory could give the Rubro-Negro even more peace of mind to work.
"We'll have more peace of mind to work towards the next match if we win. But if we lose, the press will say it's a crisis. The intention is to work so that this doesn't happen. We are certain and confident that Rogério will prepare the team well so that we leave the field with a victory," he stated.
Goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba points out that the team played four matches in two weeks and emphasizes the importance of a few days without playing official games to regain peak physical condition and fine-tune tactical details.
"The full week is good for the group. We had four games in a row and little time to train. During these days, we can work on the tactical and physical aspects to do our best against Vasco," observed the goalkeeper, who promises to dedicate himself even more with the derby in mind.
"I've been playing well. I've been working hard to achieve this. I'm not a starter, I'm currently a starter. And I'll only be able to keep this position with a lot of training. I wasn't nervous at any point. Today I trained like never before, and I've been doing that throughout the days. A goalkeeper always has to improve their skills. For that, you have to dedicate yourself 100%," he concluded.
