Trauco talks about winning the title: "It means a lot to me"

The Peruvian full-back also commented on the impact of his performances in his country

Miguel Trauco arrived at Flamengo in December 2016 and, as the season began, struggled to consistently live up to expectations. Increasingly in tune with his teammates, the Peruvian became a key player in Zé Ricardo's schemes.

After winning the Campeonato Carioca title this Sunday (7), Trauco spoke about the match in the mixed zone of Maracanã. "They took the lead and started to put a lot of pressure on, they gained confidence with the goal in the first minutes. We knew what to do and went into the second half with a different mentality, managing to score the goals and coming out with the victory", analyzed the Peruvian full-back.

Flamengo's first signing in 2017, the full-back played throughout the entire Campeonato Carioca and became a key player for the team. "Winning this title means a lot to me. I'm happy because I won this trophy outside my country, and in just four months, I've already won the affection of the fans. This is very important, and I'm gaining confidence for the rest of the year. The whole group knew this title was important because of what we've done since the beginning of the season; it's everyone's merit," said Trauco.

Miguel Trauco and Paolo Guerrero's performances have received significant international attention. A standout in Peru with every match, the duo has won over Flamengo fans and, increasingly, Peruvians. "They talk a lot about this in Peru because of Flamengo's global importance and what we're doing here, representing Peruvian football. Paolo is a star, and I'm very grateful for everything he's done for me. I gain more confidence because of all this."
