U-23 coach wants to create great champions and win titles
Renato Trindade wants to lift the trophy and see young players shine in the main team

When contacted by Flamengo's executive director of football, Zico, the current coach of the club's under-23 team, Renato Trindade, he found it hard to believe he was actually being asked to take on such a commitment. It wasn't that he doubted his ability, but the surprise of being mentioned by the Galinho only increased his desire to succeed at the helm of the Rubro-Negro.
Unknown to most Flamengo fans, Renato revealed that he played in the Flamengo youth academy alongside many players who made up the 81 squad, including Zico.
"The coolest thing about my return to Flamengo was receiving an invitation from Zico. Of all the people he could have chosen, I was called. I returned to a place I love very much. I played here in the youth academy with that team that won everything, and I'm as motivated as a 10-year-old boy who receives that big gift," said Renato.
Aware that he has a lot of work and demands ahead of him, the coach is not only concerned with the results in the U-23 Cup, but also with raising the morale of the boys, in addition to developing men/players.
"I think a coach, especially a young coach, must also prepare his players psychologically and personally. We have to tell them about the importance of life outside the club, in shaping the player's character. They are representing the biggest club in Brazil, one of the biggest in the world, and they need to know that. I have to show them that they are not forgotten, that they can, yes, fight for a spot in the first team. If they are at Flamengo, it's because they can. I'm going one by one to talk and develop a better rapport with them," he explained, without revealing much about the lineup he will field against Fluminense on Sunday (19/09).
"I know we have a lot to do. Difficulties will arise, and we have to work hard to overcome them. We have little training time, and some other clubs have been preparing for longer. I can't analyze the squad in more depth yet, but I can guarantee we have many talented young players. They have quality, and I'm here to pass on my experience. The responsibility is great, but I enjoy working this way," he concluded.
