Coach praises dedication of Fla athletes

Rogério Lourenço believes the team is motivated in the fight for the seventh Brazilian title

Porto Alegre (RS) – Flamengo may not have left the capital of Rio Grande do Sul with the points they wanted, but they returned to Rio de Janeiro certain that they will not lack willpower in the fight for their seventh Brazilian championship. Flamengo coach Rogério Lourenço applauded the players for their dedication in last Sunday's match (July 25.07) against Internacional.

"The team ran, tried hard, and the boys deserve congratulations. They deserve all the support because they are honoring the Flamengo jersey. The group is strong, they are working hard, and during the week we will fix what needs to be fixed. We need to value what we have here today and bet on these players," he said.

The Fla commander also recalled that, in the second half, even with Marquinhos, Val Baiano and Jean, who had not played in official games for some time, the team did not stop running.

"There was a point in the game where we had some players who had been out for a long time, and even so, the team didn't do badly. It's important to give these players some rhythm so they can get used to it and get a run of games in to help us in the future," analyzed the coach, who heaped praise on defender Jean.

"I was very pleased with Jean. He showed quality, leadership, and could be an important part of the group. He was booked for a play that, in my opinion, was incorrect, and not just anyone can come into a tough game like this and do well," he added.
