Coach is "upset" with draw, but highlights progress

Silas believes the team has proven it has the quality to fight for better positions in the Brasileirão

The 3-3 draw with Fluminense this Sunday (September 19.09) at Engenhão left positive and negative points for the red-and-black coach, Silas, to analyze. The commander lamented the fact that the team conceded the third goal to the tricolor when leading 3-2, but highlighted the improvement in Flamengo's football and the individual performances of some players, such as Deivid and Renato, who scored their first goals for the Gávea team this season. In the end, the coach did not consider the point gained to be bad.

"A derby is tough. It was a very even game. We showed that although we're physically inferior to Fluminense, that wasn't evident on the field. It left a bitter taste because we went behind and came back, but the point wasn't bad," he said.

The coach did not hide that he was indeed upset with the draw, however, he made a point of emphasizing that, with each game, the team leaves a better impression on the fans.

\

"It was fair considering what the teams showed. I think the effort needs to be highlighted and a new chapter has been turned. That sadness and distrust are being left behind. Deivid and Renato scored, Renato played the whole time, and I think that based on everything the players showed on the field, you can see a clear improvement," analyzed the manager, who also praised Fluminense, this Sunday's opponent.

\

"Aerial play is a strong point for Fluminense. Leandro Euzébio, Washington, and André Luiz are tall players who are good at this type of play, but we also scored goals like that today. It happened, but we'll work on it and stop looking in the rearview mirror at who's coming behind, and focus on who's up ahead soon," he concluded.
