The Algarve Trophy celebrates its 25th anniversary with the unprecedented participation of Flamengo.
Flamengo will be the first Brazilian club to compete in the competition; tickets are already on sale.
By Flamengo Communication - inFlamengo's participation in the preseason in Portugal will also mark a historic moment for the Algarve Trophy. In 2026, the traditional competition will celebrate its 25th anniversary and will, for the first time, include representatives from the American continent in its program.
Created in 2001, the tournament brings together teams from different countries during the preparation period for the European season and has already featured clubs such as Benfica, Sporting, Real Betis, Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympiacos, Porto, Fulham, Celta de Vigo and Al-Nassr. Benfica is the most successful team in the competition, with nine titles.
The 2026 edition will feature Flamengo, Benfica, River Plate, and Lausanne-Sport. Flamengo's three friendly matches will be played at the Algarve Stadium, located between the municipalities of Faro and Loulé, in the southern region of Portugal.
The first match will be against River Plate on July 3rd at 15:30 PM Brasília time. Following that, Flamengo will face Lausanne-Sport on July 8th at 16:30 PM. The team's participation will conclude three days later, on July 11th at 15:30 PM, against Benfica, in a match that will coincide with the tournament's 25th anniversary.
The preseason training camp is part of the football department's planning during the break in competitions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The delegation departs for Portugal on June 28th. The first stage of training will take place in Lagos, between June 29th and July 5th. Following that, the group will travel to Estoi, where they will remain until July 12th.
