After serving a three-game suspension for a clash with Maicossuel in the 2009 State Championship finals, left-back Juan finally made his debut in the 2010 season. Coincidentally, he scored the only goal in the last meeting between Flamengo and Americano. The match took place on March 31, 2009, at the Godofredo Cruz Stadium.
With the penalty goal, scored in the 42nd minute of the second half, Flamengo reached 16 points and came close to qualifying for the semifinal stage of the Taça Rio - a round later won by Flamengo with a 1-0 victory over Botafogo.
