Flamengo's performance against Corinthians last weekend didn't please coach Rogério Lourenço. He spoke with his players in the locker room and in the post-match press conference promised a different team for this Saturday's (August 14.08) game at Maracanã against Ceará. During the week, he spoke with the group again and reaffirmed his desire to see a committed team on the field.
"Fans can be sure that they will see a different Flamengo than the last game on Saturday," he assured.
According to him, the squad itself knows that it was a bit lacking in the match against the São Paulo team, and therefore, everyone is even more motivated to show their full potential against Ceará.
"The players themselves know that, against Corinthians, they didn't have the same attitude as in other games, and we reinforced this in the conversations we had during the week. I highlighted the team's positive aspects, and with dedication, I believe we can achieve victories. This group has potential, has quality players, and most importantly, they want it," said the coach, who used Renato Abreu and Leandro Amaral, who debuted that night, as examples for the rest of the group.
"I want Renato and Leandro to play for 45, 60 minutes, whatever they can handle. When they feel it, if they feel it, they can ask to leave. But the spirit has to be this: total dedication. Not just from them, but from all the players," he concluded.
